Empowering women through inclusive climate financing

The African Women's Development Fund (AWDF) believes that if women and women’s organizations are empowered with skills, information, sustainable livelihoods, opportunities to fulfill their potential, plus the capacity and space to make transformational choices, then we will have vibrant, healthy and inclusive communities. EnGen Collaborative is providing technical research and strategic guidance on opportunities to scale-up financing through climate change adaptation and mitigation grants-making initiatives by seeking accreditation to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). EnGen’s knowledge on climate finance mechanisms and the nexus of climate and gender is providing a baseline review of the requirements of the accreditation process, assessment of AWDF’s readiness to access funding, and advising on the procedure and actions necessary to obtaining accreditation with GCF.
